Born in Budapest in 1963 and working at the IWE since 1989, Miklós Somai earned his MA at Karl Marx University of Budapest in 1987, and his PhD at Szent István University of Gödöllő in 2003.

His permanent fields of responsibility are some special fields of the European integration (e.g. EU budget and the Common agricultural policy), as well as French and Slovenian economy.

Earlier, he had been involved into transition issues under the auspices of the World Bank, co-ordinated sectoral research projects (for the Ministry of Industry and Trade) and made case studies (for the Copenhagen Business School) concerning the car and car component industry in Hungary.

In the last couple of years, he has been working on the role of the state in France and Slovenia. Most recently his interest is turning towards disintegration and Brexit.

Udekom Balkans is a dynamic non-governmental and non-profit organization, established in 2014 with a mission to foster the growth of scientific knowledge within the Balkan region and beyond. Who We Are: Our members include esteemed university professors from various scientific disciplines, postgraduate students, and experts from ministries, public administrations, private and public enterprises, multinational corporations, associations, and similar organizations.

Building Bridges Together: Over the course of nine years since our establishment, the Association of Economists and Managers of the Balkans has established impactful partnerships with more than 1,000 diverse institutions across the Balkan region and worldwide.
