Igor Cvečić, PhD, is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Economics and Business – EFRI, in Rijeka (Croatia). He is a member of the Department of International Economy and earlier also of the Department of Economics and Politics of the European Union (which he led in the period 2014-2020). Since 2015 he is the Head of the Postgraduate Specialist Study in Business with the European Union, and since 2019 the Director of the International Business bachelor and master study programmes. Also, since 2016 he is President of the EFRI Committee for International Cooperation and a member of the University Committees for ERASMUS mobility and for Internationalization and Research Projects.
His teaching activities include undergraduate and graduate courses such as “International Economy”, “Macro-system of the EU”, „Micro-system of the EU“, „EU Regional and Social Policy“, “Economics and International Trade Policies”, “Macroeconomy of the EU”, “Regional Policy”. On the post-graduate level he is a holder or co-holder of courses such as: Doing Business on the EU Internal Market, Economic Integrations, “Theory and Policy of International Economic Trade”, “Philosophy of Economic Sciences and Application of Micro and Macroeconomics”.
Since 2014 he was invited for several visiting lectures in different European countries (CERGE-EI in Prague; University of Antwerp in Belgium; several universities in Poland – Lodz, Wroclaw and Economics in Wroclaw, University of West Bohemia in Plzen, Czech Republic and University of Ljubljana in Slovenia).
He was member of several scientific research projects since 2002, and the leading researcher and manager of the following projects: (a) “Liberalisation, Integration, Globalisation and the Affirmation of Protectionism?” (2017-2019) and (b) PROBLEM-2020 – Protectionism, Between Open Liberalism and Economic Meltdown in 2020-ies? (since 2020).
Since January 2020 he is member of the Board of Editors of Rynek Pracy: Quarterly Journal of the Polish Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy published by the Institute of Labour and Social Studies in Warsaw.
